At November’s BrauBeviale trade fair in Germany, KHS GmbH introduced additional features for its digital KHS Connect service portal. In conjunction with the company’s new digital machine labels, customers can now retrieve data relevant to their machines faster than ever. By simply scanning the QR code or using the near-field communication (NFC) function, machine operators can now directly access their machine section in KHS Connect using their smartphone or tablet.

On new machines, the label is attached directly to the control interface during commissioning. Existing machines will also be provided with labels in the course of on-site service activities.

In addition, KHS announced that it is developing a secure interface for data exchange between customer machines and the KHS cloud. In the future this will enable KHS experts to evaluate detailed real-time data from machines remotely in order to recognize potential for optimization or correction of problems in production. Pilot projects are currently underway at a number of beverage production facilities that receive a summary of their machinery’s relevant KPIs (key performance indicators) through KHS Connect.

The first step in this project was to implement new KHS Connect Remote Edge on existing production lines. This is described as “easy-to-install, plug-and-play” hardware which is already standard in new installations and can be easily retrofitted to existing machines. This is said to be the gateway for multiple future KHS Cloud applications.
