Pathways to More Sustainable Injection Molding
As self-imposed and government-issued sustainability mandates approach, injection molders reimagine their operations.

Sustainability will be the primary focus of multiple presentations at Molding 2023.
The year 2025 might be a year-and-a-half away but sustainability goals set to be achieved at that time by OEMs and brandowners are already impacting players up and down the supply chain, including injection molders. On top of these, governments are passing legislation that mandates sustainable actions to prompt ´óÏó´«Ã½es that fail to change behaviors voluntarily.
Acknowledging this important trend, Plastics Technology magazine’s (August 29-30; Minneapolis, Minn.) will feature numerous presentations that put sustainable injection molding in the spotlight. Speakers from injection molding machine manufacturers, hot runner suppliers, OEMs and custom molders will directly address technologies and ´óÏó´«Ã½ strategies can help processors operate more sustainably, meeting self-imposed targets, customer requirements or both.
Specifically, the following presentations will headline sustainability, while many others will also touch on aspects of the topic:
- A Practical Roadmap to No Nonsense Recycling, Joachim Kragl, Engel
- Sustainability in Action at ADS and Infiltrator, Brian King, ADS
- Sustainability From Molding Machine to End Product, Samira Uharek, Arburg
- How Hot Runners Can Accelerate Your Green Approach, Mike Curran, Oerlikon HRSflow
- Driving Sustainable Manufacturing: The Crucial Role of Injection Molders and Mold Makers, Dave Hemink, Velosity
- Play the “PART” in Systems Thinking and Sustainability, Tory Flynn and Peter Smith
In addition, Molding is also collocating with the , organized by PT’s sister publication, Moldmaking Technology, which will also feature presentations touching on sustainability from the perspective of the tool making industry.
