Davis-Standard Opens New Plant To Build Blow Molding Machines
D-S moves accumulator-head machine building to Fulton, N.Y.
Last month, , Pawcatuck, Conn., announced that it had opened a new manufacturing operation for blow molding machines in Fulton, N.Y., next to its existing Fulton extrusion equipment plant. The 20,000 ft2 plant allowed D-S to move its blow molding operations from Bridgewater, N.J., to Fulton. Sales, marketing, and engineering remain in Somerset, N.J.
D-S supplies industrial accumulator-head machines with up to 100-lb heads. Mark Panaro, product manager for blow molding systems, says the firm has sold two to five new machines a year, along with upgrades and rebuilds, in the last few years since the recession ended. D-S sold four new machines last year, along with two major rebuilds. Five machines are currently on order. Recent applications have been in automotive, outdoor furniture, sheds, deck boxes, recreational equipment, and dock floats. Panaro notes that D-S has upgraded its machines with the latest MACO controls from Eurotherm/Schneider Electric and is working on a larger model with 125-lb head.
