Carolina Color Corp. (CCC), Salisbury, N.C., has acquired Chroma Corp., McHenry, Ill.  The latter has been active for over 50 years in masterbatches, dry colors, and precolored compounds, serving such key markets as packaging and electronics.

As previously reported, Carolina Color itself was acquired by N.Y.C. private-equity firm Arsenal Capital Partners in late 2017. As a result, Breen Color Concentrates, Lambertville, N.J., which Arsenal Capital acquired at about the same time, was merged into Carolina Color. With the Chroma acquisition, for which terms were not disclosed, Carolina Color continues to grow its manufacturing footprint throughout the U.S. to leverage its growing portfolio of colorant and additive technologies to better serve existing and prospective customers. Noted Howard DeMonte, president of Carolina Color, “We will continue to acquire key ����ýes with the capabilities and resources in locations that complement our current portfolio with the singular goal of meeting the colorant needs of both large and small plastic converters.”

As reported in May, the company has received a patent for its G3 color pellet technology. A further upgrade of its popular G2 technology, G3 reportedly has proven effective in diverse applications such as packaging, housewares, and lawn & garden. It is said to be applicable in just about any resin systems and is said to achieve 20% or more increased pigment loading levels in polyolefins without compromising dispersion.
