Bottle makers have several new choices from ALPS Inspection for leak testing and defect detection. One highlight of its NPE exhibit is the new BenchPlus manual leak tester, described as a “compact, general-purpose and budget-friendly” benchtop test unit. Its simple offline operation makes it well suited for confirming the integrity of new products before full-scale production or for calibrating inline inspection systems via random sampling without imposing downtime. The unit can test containers from 1 oz to 5 gal and up to 20 bpm.
Also new is a vision option to enhance leak testers with simple vision capabilities to detect specific defects such as choked necks and finish ovality. Available on new systems, it uses an Omron camera with integrated lighting; while a dual-camera option is available for dual-neck containers. It is being demonstrated on the ALPS FlexPitch multimoving-head leak tester.
Also on view are the recently introduced FlexPitch Duo compact, dual-head leak tester and the QuickCheck economical single-head linear leak tester.
