Automation: Six-Axis Robot Fits In Your Hand
Mecademic’s new baby handles up to 1.1 lb with very high accuracy.
, Montreal, displayed a six-axis industrial robot small enough to fit in your hand at last month’s ATS East show in N.Y.C. The Meca500 handles payloads up to 500 g (1.1 lb) with what the company calls “unmatched accuracy” of 0.005 mm. There is no proprietary programming language to learn, only a simple set of instructions, says Mecademic. Available since 2016, the Meca500 has been used for testing, inspection, micro-assembly, dispensing, and transfer of materials in confined spaces.
