Plastics consulting firm, has announced a two-and-a-half day in-person course of plastics material selection to be held at the Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, outside of Minneapolis, from Sept. 9-11.

“” will be lead by three of Madison’s resident experts and will aim to help attendees in multiple areas related to choosing a resin, including developing a systematic and optimized approach to plastic material selection.

To do so, Madison says the course will help attendees gain a deep understanding of resin properties and their impact on product performance and learn to navigate the complexities — and limitations — of material datasheets and selection tools. This knowledge will help attendees minimize the risk of product failure due to improper material selection and enhance their ability to design for manufacturability and optimize production processes.

The course also will include various case studies to help attendees test their knowledge through real-world industry material selection examples, as well as practice and refine skills in a practical, hands-on environment.

Three experts from The Madison Group, will lead the course includes President and C锘縪founder Paul Gramann . Gramann received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he served as an adjunct professor within the Mechanical Engineering Department. Gramann specializes in plastic failure analysis, material selection and design.

Javier Cruz is a senior managing engineer and partner at The Madison Group. Cruz completed his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in Materials Science and Engineering, specializing in polymers. Cruz is an expert in many aspects of polymeric materials including material selection, failure analysis, product development, aging and compatibility, and analytical testing.

Jeffrey A. Jansen is the engineering manager and a partner at The Madison Group. A graduate of Carroll College and the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Jansen is an expert in failure analysis, material identification and selection, as well as compatibility, aging and lifetime prediction studies for thermoplastics. He was recently elected as a Fellow of the Society, by the Society of Plastics Engineers.

The course will kick off at 8 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, Sept. 9 and run through 12 p.m., Thursday, September 11. Registration closes on August 7. .
