WEB EXCLUSIVE: An unfilled grade of Victrex 90 Series high-flow PEEK from Victrex USA was used to mold small medical pipette tips.
WEB EXCLUSIVE: An unfilled grade of Victrex 90 Series high-flow PEEK from , W. Conshohoken, Pa., was used by , Willernie, Minn., to mold small medical pipette tips, one 0.015 in. thick x 0.372 in. long and another 0.008 x 0.100 in. Victrex 90G material was chosen due to its high strength and extremely high melt flow, according to Justin McPhee, v.p. of engineering for Mold Craft. “There was much work done by Victrex in defining the exact material to use and supporting us to get the temperatures correct to optimize the parts.”
Mold Craft specializes in designing and building molds for small, complex parts. It designed and built the four-cavity mold using flow simulation provided by , Erie, Pa.
Victrex 90-Series high-flow PEEK is designed for intricate, thin-walled components in automotive, electronics, and aerospace market sectors. It is available in unfilled and carbon- or glass-filled grades.
