High-Flow Nylon Carries the Load in New Fork-Lift Truck

WEB EXCLUSIVE: New I-ton hand pallet truck (HPT) from Lifter S.r.l. of Italy (U.S. office in Marietta, Ga.) is the first pallet truck in the world made of nonmetallic material. Constructed almost entirely of highly filled TechnylStar nylon from Rhodia Engineering Plastics (U.S. office in Cranbury, N.J.), the HPT weighs only 38 kg (84 lb, half as much as a standard steel pallet truck) but can lift 1000 kg (2200 lb). The twin forks measure 1150 mm long x 155 mm wide x 60 mm high and are molded with a rib pattern on the underside. TechnylStar is Rhodia’s family of nylon 6 and 66 materials with unusually high flow, allow lower molding temperatures and pressures and faster cycles.
