Smartflow by Burger & Brown Engineering, Inc.

Grandview, MO

Smartflow® products are designed to increase efficiency for injection molders with: Tool Protection using in-mold sensors, Quick Mold Change aids, and components and assemblies for cooling efficiency including manifolds and flow control. CAD Models are available for many items at Manifoldbuilder.com Tool Protection products comprise Thinswitch®, Smartlock® and Versaswitch™ in-mold sensors. Sensors are used to confirm the position of tool components such as ejector plates and slides to prevent premature mold closure and catastrophic mold crashes. SMED-Friendly Smartflow Products include FasTie®, SWAP® Valve and Duoflow® aluminum manifolds designed to speed mold change time. FasTie System is a quick connect and release coupler set designed to tie press and mold-ejector plates with a snap, and release with shop air. The greatest time savings are realized in installations into smaller presses where space is limited. Water is quickly and cleanly removed from cooling lines between mold changes using a SWAP Valve. Installed in the supply side of a loop, SWAP Valve supplies water to the injection mold in front of a water manifold. Between mold changes, the valve shuts off the water supply, and pushes water out with shop air. Duoflow manifolds are designed to be permanently installed on molds in storage to simplify water hookup to a single supply and return connection. Cooling Water efficiency products include aluminum and stainless steel manifolds, flow meters, and flow regulators specified by injection molders for each installation according to individual needs. Mechanical or electronic flow meters unique to plastics processors are available for different flow rates and functions, including Turbulent Flow. From simple flow only indicators to sophisticated digital options, there is a Smartflow meter to suit budgetary and operational needs. Scientific Cooling Classes are available to molding technicians and process engineers to learn best practices and injection mold cooling efficiency.
