Yudo USA Inc. highlights the Tina ML, a nozzle specialized for coinjection solutions. The Tina ML functions as a compatible solution for a variety of materials and also enables cost reduction for moldmakers.
The company says its customers needed a technology that could help solve various challenges, including part weight and stiffness, reduced scrap, reduced raw material cost and appearance quality. As a result, the company developed its multilayer solution, the Tina ML.
Multilayer injection molding is where two or more types of resins are sequentially injected into the part cavity. Yudo’s Tina ML nozzle enables two different resins to be injected into the part cavity at the same time.
A benefit of this technology is the ability to use recycled resin — users can reduce cost by utilizing scrap and/or recycled resin in the core layer up to 80% of the part weight, which helps to reduce scrap resin waste. This contributes to the production of eco-friendly products by using recycled plastics and bioplastics.
Another material benefit of the technology includes structural foam resins — in using foaming resins, the user can expect a weight reduction of up to 20% in the core layers. Users can also save on raw material costs when producing large parts. The use of foaming resins can also prevent sink marks, improving the appearance of the part.
Lastly, another material option is found in glass fiber resins — by using glass fiber material in the core layer and using another resin in the skin layer, the user can achieve rigid parts with good cosmetic quality. In addition, the lower processing temperature requirements can contribute to shorter cycle times.
