Low-Smoke Zero-Halogen Wire & Cable Jacket Compound
SACO AEI technology targets copper media cables, including CAT 5e & 6 and fiber optics.
SACO AEI Polymers is launching a thermoplastic low-smoke, zero-halogen CPE (chlorinated PE) based wire & cable sheathing/jacket compound capable of meeting UL 1666 riser standards in copper media cables, including Cat 5e and Cat 6, in addition to European CPR requirements for fiber optic cables.
Patent-pending Thermodan HF TP343NT reportedly offers superior fire performance, low smoke production and contains no halogens. The new jacket compound for cables recognized under UL 444 copper media communication cables, is said to outperform conventional 4-pair HDPE insulation at a 22-mil jacket wall in the UL 1666 riser flame test.
Natural in color, the material is UV resistant and certified halogen free in accordance with UL2885 standard. Thermodan TP343NT LSZH reportedly meets the need for a more cost-effective solution for the fast-growing copper media and fiber optic global wire & cable market. In copper media cables, the 22-mil thin wall jacket reportedly reduces the cable diameter by up to 7%. This saves space, as well as mass, with up to a 30% reduction in weight. When used as a jacket for fiber optic cables, SACO says TP343NT can assist the cable maker in meeting the stringent new European CPR Regulations at the B2 Classification.
