Infrared Absorbing Masterbatch for PC
CAI’s new additive boasts high performance even in thinner PC films or sheets while being easy to process.

An infrared absorbing additive masterbatch that reportedly enables PC to be used to keep temperatures lower in the production of protective film or sheet for automotive and residential applications is newly available from Massachusetts-based CAI Performance Additives, the sole distributor in North America for a broad portfolio of high-performance additives produced by China’s Starbetter Chemical Materials.
Formulated with a stable dispersion of the active particles, ST-IR05M Infrared Absorbing Masterbatch is said to eliminate the tendency to agglomerate. The particles are loaded at 5% in the PC masterbatch, which is said to provide great processability and to ensure the production of a significantly thinner PC film or sheet, compared to competing solutions. The new additive is said to deliver excellent performance, anabling manufacturers to achieve high IR absorbance, even with thinner films or sheets.
