Fully Automated Mold-Change Is Here
An integrated solution using Stäubli's technology in a smart-factory setting shows how Single Minute Exchange of Die can work.
The highlight of Stäubli’s booth is a fully automated demonstration cell for SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die). Networked Industry 4.0-compatible components coordinate a number of individual processes for operating the robotics, sensors, magnetic clamping, rapid connection devices, robot tool changers, trolleys, and electrical connections. The system detects the condition of the mold, the molding force of the magnetic clamping, and numerous other factors; so that any fault, such as failure to reach correct operating temperature, is recognized early.
