Cloud-Based Real-Time Injection Mold Monitoring System
Mold-Masters SmartMOLD combines inmold sensors with cloud-based software to provide real-time process data, maintenance tracking, document storage, reporting, alerts and more.
Mold-Masters has introduced the SmartMOLD cloud-based software platform to provide real-time data to injection molding and “take the first step towards predictive and autonomous capabilities within your facility,” according to Mold-Masters. Process data are collected from sensors embedded within the injection mold. The mold sensor options can track cycle count/time, mold temperature, cooling temperature, cooling flow and humidity. They communicate via OPC-UA protocols and connect via Ethernet, requiring an internet connection and 24V DC power.
In addition to collecting sensor data, SmartMOLD software offers performance, downtime and scrap tracking; maintenance reminders; alerts; reporting; analytics; mold info; and document storage, among other things.
SmartMOLD also has the potential to pull data from injection molding machines, with Mold-Masters noting it is compatible with any brand of press. Users can connect molds only, injection machines only or connect everything, scaling the system to their facility and budget requirements so they only pay for what elements of the package are used.
SmartMOLD can also share data into existing ERP/MES systems, with API’s available for any system, and the ability to then export data in various formats, including Excel, csv, xml, net and more.
Real-time data are accessible 24/7 though a desktop online portal or on a mobile app. The system provides unlimited data storage. Since the software is cloud based, users will always have the latest version with no manual updates required. Mold-Masters says this also means users will not need to have their own IT team dedicated to support SmartMOLD’s functionality. Mold-Masters says server facilities supporting SmartMOLD are operating in all major regions, and they offer compliance with local data privacy laws and enhance data response times via proximity. Mold-Masters offers global installation and technical support.
