AFA Systems Acquires Cooper Machine
Newly formed AFA Cooper will broaden AFA's range in the packaging world, especially for the plastic bag and film converting industry.
AFA Systems Ltd., a Canadian manufacturer of automation packaging solutions with global sales, has formed AFA Cooper Inc. after the acquisition of Cooper Machine & Tool Co. This acquisition will broaden AFA's product range in packaging, especially for the plastic bag and film converting industry.
Founded by Andrew Wong in 1978, Cooper Machine started as a job shop and by 1995 specialized in making downstream blown film and bag converting equipment including: shuttle bag machines; coreless, surface and turret winders; separators, bag folders, v-folders, post gussetters, rotary cutters, and accessories. Cooper's 800-plus converting machines in the market are said to be known for being heavy duty yet simple to operate and maintain.
AFA Cooper noted in a release that AFA Systems already had several customers in the trash bag industry under its belt, so this deal opens up the possibility of offering complete downstream turnkey systems, covering everything from converting equipment to automatically packing bags into finished cartons or cases.
