PTXPO Preview: Wittmann Showcases LSR Molding, Central Conveying Demonstration

A 121-ton SmartPower injection molding machine equipped for LSR processing will join a demonstration of Wittmann’s Codemax RFID-coded manifold, among other technologies.

At (March 18-20 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois), Wittmann will run an LSR molding cell in addition to a demonstration of its central conveying capabilities and other auxiliaries. A 121-ton SmartPower servo-hydraulic injection molding machine will feature Wittmann 4.0’s industrial internet of things integration, including an Elmet LSR pump and dosing system integrated into the cell via OPC UA communication protocols.  The machine will mold an LSR spoon holder in a 40-second cycle. Those parts will be removed by a W918 three-axis robot with Wittmann’s R9 control.

In addition, from the material-handling side of Wittmann’s ´óÏó´«Ã½, the company will showcase a Gravimax G14 Blender with four S3 loaders. As part of a central conveying demonstration, Wittmann will highlight its Codemax RFID-coded manifold with the M8 control, showing how the system ensures material traceability, including the Material Source Supervisor, Coded Source and Lot Management tools. In terms of size reduction, the booth will also feature a G-Max 13 conventional blade granulator and an S-Max 2 Plus screenless granulator.
