PTXPO Preview: Hasco Has New Mold Components on Hand

New cooling bores, an extended standard bar range and melt filtration are among the highlights of Hasco’s plans for PTXPO 2025.

At (March 18-20 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois), mold component supplier Hasco will highlight a variety of products including some recently launched items. The Cooling Tornado Z9665/... can be used in combination with runners in core-cooling systems and directly in the corresponding cooling bores. By creating turbulent flow in the cooling medium, cooling effectiveness can be increased by up to 20%, depending on the flow rate in l/min. This “turbulence” interrupts the laminar lower layer of the cooling medium mixing elements from the inner core to the outer sheath, which improves heat transfer.

In addition to enabling shorter cycle times and the avoiding hot spots, the bores ensure more uniform temperature distribution and up to 10°C cooler process mediums. In addition, energy savings between 20-40% are possible. The Cooling Tornado can be retrofitted and resized for installation into existing systems. Positioned at the end of the line via a clamping ring, the device’s mounting can also be carried out in combination with cooling pipes such as Z962/... for core cooling and direct installation in the cooling bores.

Comparisons of cooling circuits with and without the Cooling Tornado showed a reduction in the surface temperature of 10%. Applying a flow rate of 6 l/min, dropped cavity surface temps from 86 to 78°C. For a complete mold, the Cooling Tornado achieves energy savings of 20-40%.

In addition, Hasco is introducing its new standard bar range, providing its customers more than 3,000 variables in a variety of dimensions and steel grades. The addition of the N-bar line extends an existing range and is specifically designed to meet the needs of moldmakers. Hasco calls it an optimum supplement to its plate portfolio of undrilled P and drilled K plates.

The N-bars can be used as the starting material for guide bars, inserts, slide bars, pressure pads and more. Made from high-quality, low-stressed annealed materials, Hasco guarantees their precision, dimensional stability and process reliability. Lengths of 500 to 1,000 mm are available, with well-stocked inventory ensuring ready availability.

Finally, for demanding melt filtration, Hasco will present the H5055/… hole filter. Hasco says the design reduces shear to help retain the plastic’s mechanical properties, while also keep pressure loss to a minimum. Specially designed for use in machine nozzles and sprue bushings, the filter is made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and features more than 1,000 angled holes.

The hole filter also promises long service life and ease of cleaning, with the ability to remove sediment from the outside, while dead spots are avoided because of the conical geometry. In tests with highly abrasive materials, Hasco says the low-shear design also showed promising results in terms of reducing wear.
