KM to Produce Pipe, Profile, Sheet Extruders in US
KraussMaffei to make extruders in Kentucky to reduce lead times and enhance customer support.
In a move to better serve the North American extrusion market, KraussMaffei has expanded its production facilities in the U.S., focusing on manufacturing extruders at its plant in Florence, Kentucky. This shift is expected to significantly reduce lead times and enhance customer support across the region.
By localizing its production, the machine builder aims to bring its high-quality German engineering closer to the end user, improving access to spare parts, boosting equipment knowledge and strengthening local engineering resources. The initiative also aligns with the company’s commitment to meeting the growing demands of the North American market.
As of Jan. 22, 2025, KraussMaffei USA is assembling two of its largest extruders — each designed for high-demand industrial applications. The first, a KME150-36B/R extruder, is being built for a large 54" HDPE pipe line. The second, a KMD164-32P/L sheet extruder, is being tested for a large foam PVC production line.

These extruders are part of the company’s broader strategy to deliver cutting-edge solutions while enhancing support for customers in the region. According to Doug Alexander, ´óÏó´«Ã½ development and expert sales manager at KraussMaffei, “We haven’t altered the design of our extruders. Our customers value the quality of German engineering and, by leveraging local supply chains, we are able to deliver machines that meet their specific needs with even greater efficiency.”
KraussMaffei says its move to build extruders in the U.S. marks a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction in the North American market.
