Changes to Boards at Engel North America and Engel Group
Promoting from within, Engel North America’s four-person board will be headed by North American CEO Mark Sankovitch, while Engel Group names new CTO and CFO.
Engel North America, the York, Penn.-based division of the global maker of injection molding machines and automation appointed a new management board, to be led by North American CEO Mark Sankovitch. Created in September 2021, the board consists of Vanessa Malena (COO), who will lead After Sales Service, Automation and Engineering; Benjamin Lettner (CSO), who will be responsible for Sales, Marketing and Application Engineering; and Johann Dastl (CFO), who will continue to manage Finance, HR and IT.
Engel noted that the members of the newly created board were all promoted from within, reflecting the company’s emphasis on home-grown talent. The company also noted that Paul Caprio left Engel North America effective Jan. 31, 2022. He joined Engel as president of its North American division in 2020 after 25 years with KraussMaffei, including time as its president. An Engel spokesperson told Plastics Technology that the function of president has been absorbed by the formation of the new management board.
Changes at Engel Group
The broader Engel Group, headquartered in Schwertberg, Austria, also announced a “board reshuffle.” Specifically, Gerhard Dimmler, previously VP R&D, was appointed to the board as CTO, taking over the development division from Engel Group CEO Stefan Engleder. Dimmler will also be put in charge of digitalization at the company.
Within the commercial division, CFO Markus Richter is leaving Engel at the end of March, when current fiscal year ends. His successor will be Simon Zeilberger, who joins Engel Group as Commercial Director on April 1. Engel says Zeilberger brings extensive management experience, primarily gained in the metal and steel industry. The Production Division will continue to be managed by Joachim Metzmacher as CPO.
