Arterex Acquires Italian Medical Device Provider
Arterex’s acquisition of Phoenix S.r.l. continues its growth mission to offer customers in North America and Europe diversified, high-precision medical device manufacturing solutions.
Phoenix develops, assembles and packages medical devices in just over 37,000 ft.2 of manufacturing space and four ISO-8 clean rooms in Modena, Italy.

The company says this acquisition expands Arterex’s capabilities in medical device development, finished device assembly and packaging to Europe.
As the latest addition to the Arterex group of medical device contract manufacturing companies, Phoenix has 20 years of experience in the design, development and manufacture of disposable medical devices, along with assembly and packaging services in ISO-8 clean rooms.

Phoenix offers a range of services related to the design, manufacture and marketing of disposable and nondisposable medical devices. It is located near Modena, Italy, where it develops, assembles and packages medical devices in just over 37,000 ft.2 of manufacturing space and four ISO-8 clean rooms. It also offers ultrasonic cleaning of different materials for medical solutions.
The Italian company also offers certification support and regulatory expertise. It is ISO 13485:2016 certified and operates in compliance with the European Union’s Medical Device Regulation (MDR). The company also features a dedicated quality and regulatory team to guide clients through all certification processes. In addition, it has built partnerships with research institutes and surgical teams to develop and study innovative products, which contributes to the creation of state-of-the-art solutions for the medical sector.

Arterex says this acquisition continues its growth path to provide customers in North America and Europe with diversified, high-precision medical device manufacturing solutions, including design, development, engineering, compounding, extrusion, injection molding and mold manufacturing, as well as advanced assembly and packaging capabilities. The company says this enables it to produce a broad range of products, from components all the way up to Class III medical devices and implantables for its global and regional OEM customers.
The company operates nine manufacturing facilities across three continents with more than 1,250 employees to provide diversified manufacturing solutions for the medical device and life sciences industries. Other Arterex brands include Formula Plastics, Kabo, Luc & Bel, ModenPlast and NextPhase.
Arterex was created in 2022 when Investindustrial signed multiple agreements to acquire Formula Plastics, Kabo, Luc & Bel and ModenPlast. The company then acquired NextPhase in June 2023 and Micromold in January 2024.
