2025 Extrusion Conference Shifts to Standalone Event in Boston
The annual technical conference organized by Plastics Technology magazine was scheduled to co-locate with the PTXPO trade show next March. Both events will now occur independently.
Plastics Technology has shifted its annual to be a standalone event in 2025, instead of a co-located experience with the trade show. Extrusion 2025 will now take place in Boston at the Hilton Boston Park Plaza, May 20-21. PTXPO will still take place in Rosemont, Illinois, March 18-20.
The reasoning was laid out in a press release announcing the move. “The decision to separate the Extrusion Conference from PTXPO reflects a strategic shift designed to better serve the needs of the extrusion community. A closer examination of market positioning and audience preferences has led to this change, which underscores a commitment to providing a dedicated platform that focuses exclusively on extrusion-based manufacturing.”
Boston was chosen based on New England’s well-established status as a hub for the extrusion industry. The region is called home by many key players in extrusion machinery and equipment, as well as extrusion manufacturers.
“Our programming for the 2025 event has been refreshed to reflect the growing need among our audience for programming that helps them solve problems and apply best practices,” Jim Callari, PT’s editorial director and technical director of Extrusion 2025, stated in a release. “Sessions will be organized by module to take the attendee from pellet preparation and conditioning to melt preparation and delivery to die design. We will also have sessions devoted to sustainable processing, troubleshooting and emerging technologies.”
As part of this strategic realignment, PTXPO will now be repositioned as a specialized event focused on molding and moldmaking, and those industries’ corresponding brand owners and OEMs, and their full suite of suppliers.
“Plastics Technology recognizes that the in-person needs of molders and moldmakers are distinctly different than those of extrusion-focused firms,” Jeff Sloan, PT’s Brand VP stated in a release. “We expect, with this change, that brand owners and OEMs will find at PTXPO a complete lineup of the tools, machinery and services required for production of high-quality molded plastic parts.”
