Valtris Specialty Chemicals Acquires Akcros
Acquisition of Akcros broadens Valtris' plastic additives offerings and expands its global footprint.
Independence, Ohio, has acquired New Brunswick, N.J., significantly enhancing its plastic additives offerings globally. A portfolio company of private equity investment firm H.I.G. capital, Valtris was formed in late 2014 when H.I.G. acquired Ferro Corp.’s Polymer Additives Div.
The Akcros acquisition partially complements Valtris broad range of PVC additives with its range of heat stabilizers and expands its product offerings into polyolefins. Its range of additives for the latter include antiblocking and antifogging agents, antistats, antioxidants, and biocides. Akcros’ two major manufacturing sites are in New Brunswick and Eccles, U.K, with additional production capability in Mumbai, India and Guangzhou, China.
Said Valtris’ CEO Paul Angus, “Akcros is a highly strategic and complimentary acquisition for us, providing new and multiple avenues for growth. There are significant opportunities to enhance our product offerings and provide more value to our customers. In addition, Valtris will now be a leading player not only in North America but also in Europe, a major goal of ours.”
