Sun Plastech Acquires Novachem
Two major players in purging compounds consolidate.
The consolidation of two major manufacturers of purging compounds for the plastic industry is now underway. Effective June 1, ., subsidiary of Asahi Kassei Chemicals, Parsippany, N.J., completed its acquisition of Bridgeport, Conn.
Since its establishment in 1996 to service thermoplastic injection molders and extruders across North and South America, SunPlastech has become a recognized leader of an increasingly broader range of mechanical purging compounds sold under the Asaclean brand. Since its 1989 establishment, Novachem has become a leading supplier of chemical purging compounds under its Novapurge and SuperNova product lines, as well as its InstaPurge line of mechanical purges, and its more recent Hybrid line of compounds that combines SuperNova technology with InstaPurge.
This acquisition further bolsters Sun Plastech’s position as a leading provider of purging compounds. It allows it to offer injection molders, extruders, compounders, and blow molders a wide array of quality selections of purging products that meet nearly any purging scenario, with the aim of maximizing their production efficiency by minimizing downtime and reducing scrap.
