Facility will be used for customer mold trials, machine demonstrations, technology testing, and hands-on training.
Last month, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag opened its first major U.S. Technology Center in Strongsville, Ohio. The 8250 ft² facility will be used for customer mold trials, machine demonstrations, technology testing, and hands-on training. At present it houses seven demo-ready machines: three of the new SE-EV series of advanced all-electric presses (50, 100, and 180 metric tons), an SE-HDZ High-Duty all-electric (280m.t.), two El-Exis SP ultra-high-speed hybrids (450 and 580 m.t.), and a Systec hydraulic press (280 m.t.).
The electric machines have the latest controls and software, including Z-Molding functions with Flow Front Control . They can also demonstrate the novel SL Screw technology . Sumitomo Demag also has a smaller Technology Center at its Norcross, Ga., location, equipped with three or four all-electric machines in smaller sizes.
The 234,000 ft² Strongsville location also houses the company’s new program for partial or complete rebuilding of Van Dorn, Demag, Sumitomo, and Newberry machines. The program can do more than 30 complete rebuilds per year.
Sumitomo Demag also offers trade-in credits for old machines of any make, which can be applied to a new machine purchase or used for parts and training. A new machine stocking program is also based in Strongsville, with about 32 of the company’s 50+ stock machines on site at present
