Italian Compounder So.F.Ter. Adds U.S. Production
So.F.Ter. is building a plant in Tennessee.
One of the world’s largest independent engineered thermoplastics compounders, with a strong presence in Europe, Mexico and Brazil, is coming to our shores. The So.F.Ter. Group of Italy began construction last month of its first U.S. plant on a 21-acre site in Lebanon, Tenn.
The plant will occupy 100,000 ft2 and have 50 million lb/yr capacity of engineered compounds based on nylon, polypropylene, TPEs, and other materials. So.F.Ter. aims this new capacity at U.S. automotive, appliance, construction, electrical, and electronics markets. Ultimately, the company plans to expand the facility to over 250,000 ft2 and capacity to over 150 million lb/yr. There are reports that the company aims to begin production by year’s end. Mark Rodden, managing director of So.F.Ter.’s U.S. operation, brings 15 years of plastics compounding managerial experience.
