WEB EXCLUSIVE: Jaguar Land Rover’s new Range Rover Evoque features high-gloss, piano-black A, B, C, and D exterior pillars made from a specialty SAN grade, Luran HH120 SPF50, from (U.S. office in Aurora, Ill.). The development was jointly executed by Styrolution and Swedish Tier One supplier Rosti McKechnie.
Boasting easy flow and low density, the Luran grade opened up a wider processing window that resulted in reduced part weight and scrap rates. According to the partners, it also offers a beautifully rich, glossy finish without need for paint. The material is a preferred alternative to PMMA, which has been used extensively for exterior piano-black applications until now.
