Familiar Faces in WPC Launch
Profile extrusion veterans form new wood-plastics concern.
A relative newcomer to the world of wood/natural-fiber plastic composites is beginning manufacturing in the U.S. Polymera Inc. last month acquired state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and a 160,000-ft² facility in Hebron, Ohio, where it will produce WPC agglomerate, compounds, and custom extruded profiles. The facility has blending systems capable of more than 50 million lb/yr, and high-output twin-screw WPC extrusion lines. Polymera believes it is filling a void in the marketplace through its flexibility to customize material formulations utilizing a wide spectrum of raw materials.
Polymera’s president Maan Said has more than 25 years of experience in polymer manufacturing operations and investment banking. VP/general manager Herb Hutchison has more than 30 years’ experience in plastics, and is considered one of the pioneers in developing the U.S. market for WPC. VP of engineering Matt Kollar has more than 25 years of engineering experience in plastic-related fields, including oversight of three WPC plant openings.
