Extrusion Vet Guthrie Supplies Recycling Equipment
Long-time extrusion industry executive Sandy Guthrie has started his own recycling equipment company.
Long-time extrusion industry executive Sandy Guthrie has started his own recycling equipment company. ADG Solutions in Fairfield, Conn., will offer recycling systems ranging from general-purpose equipment to machinery devoted to PS foam and heavily contaminated scrap. ADG’s equipment ranges in throughput from 500 to more than 10,000 lb/hr. Under an exclusive North American arrangement with Davis-Standard, Pawcatuck, Conn., ADG will offer reclaim extruders and systems for low- and high-bulkdensity scrap, loose film, fibers, and scrap that is foamed, printed, or rolled. ADG will also supply screen changers from Fimic (photo) and washing equipment from Tecnofer, both Italian firms.
ADG has also developed its own line of small machines aimed at PS foam recycling. These reportedly achieve a 90:1 reduction in volume, densifying PS foam from an initial 0.5 lb/ft3 to 45 pcf. The machines chop, melt, and prepare the material in a form that can be ground for reuse.
From 1978 to 1991, Guthrie was active at Sterling Extruder (founded by his father) and Davis Electric. In 1991, he founded Merritt Extruder, which merged with Davis Electric in 1994. When Merritt Davis was sold to Davis-Standard in 2005, Guthrie stayed on as 大象传媒 director until December 2010.
