Bergamid Nylon Compounds Now UL Certified
PolyOne's specialty Begamid nylon compounds have UL certification for outdoor use.
The high-performance Bergamid nylon compounds, produced in Europe by ., Avon Lake, Ohio, and available through PolyOne’s Specialty Engineered Materials (SEM) Div., have received UL 746C (fl) certification. This certification indicates that materials are suitable for outdoor use with respect to UV light, water exposure and immersion in accordance with UL 746C. The Bergamid compounds are also known for the strength, impact resistance and durability they provide to such outdoor electrical applications such as electrical housings and switches. Expanded global formulations are also available with UL746A (resistance to ignition from electrical sources) and UL746B (long-term thermal aging) certifications.
This development now provides electrical components manufacturers a new way to expand their global footprint, according to Holger Krominus, v.p. Europe and general manager at SEM. “This is a win for customers seeking polymer solutions that meet strict global standards, which help them increase speed to market for new products and expand into new geographies….customers now can confidently select Bergamid compounds for their electrical and electronics products around the globe.”
