BASF to Globally Boost Production of Irganox1010
Major investment in expanding capacity of workhorse primary antioxidant planned by BASF.
A significant global expansion of workhorse Irganox 1010 primary antioxidant is planned by BASF, Florham Park, N.J. The sterically hindered phenolic antioxidant is widely used in a broad range of polyolefins as well as acetals, nylons, PVC, PS, ABS, polyesters and polyurethane.
An increase in capacity of 40% will result from expansion projects at BASF’s sites in Kaisten, Switzerland, due online in 2019, and in Jurong, Singapore, scheduled for early 2021. The company is aiming to better serve the increasing demand from customers in Asia and Europe, Middle East and Africa from its regional supply points.
In addition, the company is investing in its McIntosh, Alabama facility to improve asset reliability and further expand capacity to meet growing customer demand. “Increasing our manufacturing capacity shows our commitment to plastic additives which greatly benefits our global customer base…By investing in our MacIntosh, Alabama site, we’ll further improve our supply reliability and expand our capacity of Irganox 1010 and associated antioxidants to meet growing demand in the region,” said senior v.p. Deon Carter, BASF Performance Chemicals North America.
