3D Printed PEEK-Based Composite Pipe for Subsea Oil & Gas Use

What is said to be the largest and longest PEEK-based structure ever achieved utilizes PEEK from Inc., West Conshohocken, Penn.The structure is the latest lightweight continuous pipe developed by Houston-based .’s with its new flexible m-pipe technology for subsea oil and gas systems. It can be deployed to depths of 10,000 feet and handle pressures of up to 15 ksi.
Magma sources confirm that the new m-pipe is a thermoplastic composite pipe with a monolithic structure from bore to surface. It is produced using the highest quality materials including high-grade carbon fiber from Japan’s Toray, Victrex PEEK, and S-2 Glass. Moreover, it is manufactured using a 3D laser printing process in continuous lengths of up to 4000 meters. The result is a reliable subsea intervention line that meets demand for a hydraulic pumping system that can handle high pressures and high flow rates.
