Auxiliary Equipment Icon Thiele Dies

Guided Motan into the U.S. market as part of a six-decade career in plastics machinery.

Chuck Thiele, one of the most well-known and respected auxiliary equipment executives in a plastics machinery career that spanned six decades, died recently. He was 80.

Thiele was the holder of six patents. He stared his career in plastics machinery in 1973 when joined Whitlock Inc. as national sales manager. A serial entrepreneur and innovator, Thiele started his own sales rep company soon thereafter, then launched Kenvey Systems, which manufactured pneumatic conveying systems.

 

Thiele is perhaps best well-known for his tenure at auxiliary equipment firm Motan,  where is served as president from 1985-1999. Following that, he served as a consultant for Conair and Novatec, among others. Most recently,  he was consulting with Ampacet, which got into the auxiliary equipment ´óÏó´«Ã½ in 2020 when it purchased Israel’s  Liad Weighing and Control Systems.

 

In 2008, Thiele started Vactec LLC, which focused on developing and selling materials handling products for processors.

Thiele was active in the Plastics Pioneers Association and also contributed several articles on conveying technology to this publication.

Thiele is survived by his wife Nancy; his son, Charles Jr.; and his daughter. Tracey. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian; brother, John; and his parents.

The Thiele family will host a celebration of life on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022 (12-4) at O’Duffy’s, 804 W. Vine St., Kalamazoo, Mich. The family is welcoming to the to continue to keep both Chuck and Brian’s spirit alive.
